Riverside Real Estate
Being the County seat of
Riverside County, within the State of California, the City of Riverside takes its name from its location on the banks of the Santa Ana River. It is the largest city in the Inland Empire and the 61st largest city within the entire United States. Riverside was founded in the 1870s by John W. North, who was a staunch abolitionist. He had previously been responsible for founding Northfield in Minnesota. Shortly after the founding of the city, test plantings of the navel orange were tried and it was found to be extremely successful. The citrus boom had started, shaping much of the entire State of California in future years. The City of Riverside covers an area of almost 80 square miles, only 0.3 square miles of this is actually water. Year 2000 census results tell us that there were just over 93,000 separate households within the city with the population density calculated at 3.267 people per square mile.
